I really want to upgrade to windows 8 but is there any definite reason minecraft would not work on windows 8. I heard notch said he would not certify it for the app store but it will still work normally when you download it. Also right now I am on windows 7 and it works flawlessly. And forgive me if this is in the wring section I couldn't really find the right one.
Some drivers are the same yes, but some are not. Regardless, the OS itself sometimes does not run the drivers properly.
Im running it in a virtual machine and it crashes with bad video drivers would this happen if I installed it for real would this still happen by the way the video driver for the virtual machine is Microsoft basic display adapter but the real driver is the intel HD Graphics Family so dod you think that if I installed windows 8 for real it would intall this driver and then it would work?
yes it does, there are people who have played MC on Windows 8
Do you know if the video driver is the only thing that would hold me back if the game wouldn't start and also if I go to the website and find that Intel has a windows 8 driver for my graphics card do you think that would that fix any problems.
When a new computer comes out, you shouldn't get it ASAP, you should wait a year or two so they can fix bugs and errors.
Actually im upgrading from my old computer but ive been running the preview and it seems pretty solid and since right now through like January 1 it is only 40 dollars im hoping to get it now so I can save. I just want to make sure that it can be run on windows 8 so that I know there is no absolute change of it not running.

Here's the current state of Minecraft on Windows 8:
Minecraft will run great if you have windows 8 drivers available, and you should for Intel HD in Intel's website.
If you have to use win 7 or vista drivers, OpenGL support on 8 is hit-or-miss. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Theoretically it should always work but for some reason it does not in some situations.
I'm running Windows 8 right now perfectly fine, as I have Win 8 drivers available for my GPU.
Edit: oh yeah, as for your virtual machine, 3D acceleration is pretty much non-existent in VM's right now so don't base your VM on how it will run fully installed.
Ok yeah I figured as much about the virtual machines 3D acceleration not working so I think im problem going to go for it since Intel has windows 8 drivers not only for my graphics card and everything else.
