I recently bought an alienware X51. Performance wise, it's a monster. I have been having one problem though (which may or may not have anything to do with the computer).
Minecraft runs fine and I've usually got 160-200 fps when I've put on the 'max fps' setting. I can usually play for about 10 minutes before the problem happens.
All of a sudden minecraft drops to about 1 fps every 4 seconds or so. I'm not doing anything particular when this keeps happening. I'm just playing in creative and burning stuff. When this starts I usually just press escape, save and quit, close and reopen minecraft. If I don't, the extreme lag continues for about a minute until I get the blue error screen saying something about running out of memory.
I don't know what to do. I've reinstalled minecraft twice. Deleted bin and redownloaded it. I tried to install optifine too but the mod never seems to work (yes, I deleted MATA-INF). I'd really like to continue with my hardcore survival. Plis halp.
What is your OS?
Did you buy MC?
Are you using MinecraftSP.exe?
What is your Java Version (32-bit/64-bit)?
Specs?
Eeehh I'm not sure I can answer all of those. I'm no IT genius
OS: Windows 7
MC: I have a premium account. I've tried using my brother's account as well and the same thing happens
I'm just using the vanilla minecraft.exe
I'm not entirely sure which Java I have... I'm pretty sure I have 32 bit. Not certain though. Is there any way to check?
SPECS: Uhm, honestly, no idea. All I know is that I have a terabyte memory and 8 gig RAM
Here's some stuff I copied and pasted off the website
is you cpu overheating that could easly make somthing like this happen
Nope. CPU ain't doin' no overheatin' or nuffin'. My PC can do everything else except run minecraft for more than 10 minutes or so.
That's the part that gets me. It runs minecraft perfectly fine for a limited time. Then the 'out of memory' error happens AFTER I've been playing normally. Not as soon as I start it up, but afterwards.
It's weird that you're having problems because of Minecraft, usually alienwares are made for hardcore gaming, and I don't consider minecraft as hardcore. I think the game itself doesn't have any problems, but your computer. Try disk defragmenting and disk cleaning.
