Is it possible to downgrade to a version of Minecraft you haven't played yet?

Hey!

I want to download a modpack but I need to downgrade the problem is the MC client on my other client on my computer hasen't played that version yet. Is there a way to update and then get 1.4.2 for that client?

Or just get McLauncher. Much easier. Can downgrade alot of versions. :3
