i don't have any mods installed right now. they're a pain in the ass to work with... i tried to use toomanyitems and later deleted it. i think it may be what caused all of this.
Have you tried doing a forceupdate? In the screen where you login there is a button with the option to forceupdate the client. This will remove changes a mod may have made to the install. I'm sorry I probably won't be much help from here on due to unfamiliarity with the Mac OS.
I don't know enough about what that driver he's talking about modifying does to recommend this, but it may be helpful, just use at your own risk. Keep a backup copy of that driver prior to modification just in case.
