Hello minecraft world! I was hoping that somebody could help me with a problem that I'm having where my minecraft won't connect at all! The launcher is fine when opened (shows updates and news) but when I log in, it says 'can't connect to minecraft.net'. If I click 'play offline' all I get is the black screen of death!!!! I have tried to play on the minecraft site itself but I get the black screen again. Also; I'm not sure if it is important or not but when I open the launcher; at the top of the window and in the taskbar, instead of the grass block logo it just shows the java symbol. I have updated my java and it is 32 bit (as is my computer). I have even gone so far as to get the .minecraft file from school (which definitely works) and replacing mine, but yet again, doesnt work!!! I'm getting rather frustrated because I dont want tocan't live off only one hour a day for just four days a week! I NEED MORE MINECRAFT! Any help or advice is muchly appreciated! thanx!!
Back up all of your saves and texture packs and completely delete the .minecraft folder as well as the .exe launcher. Reinstall them both from scratch. If it still doesn't work, then update your video drivers perhaps, and make sure they're playing nice with OpenGL.

Well i already tried to replace my .minecraft folder with the one from my school computer and i know that the school one definitely works. At the time that it stopped working i had 1.2.5 and since then i havent updated because the launcher hasnt even given me the option to update (it doesnt even work with force update!) the launcher down the bottom just has a black background instead of the dirt texture but i dont know if this has anything to do with it!!?!
Still, it wouldn't hurt to completely install minecraft from scratch. Redownload Minecraft and see if that works.
If you still get a black screen then it's most likely something to do with your computer, have you fiddled with it before it stopped working, or anyone else for that matter?
You download minecraft using the launcher. Delete the .minecraft folder and login using the launcher. That will download a new instance of craft for you.
Note that you should backup your saves before attempting this, unless you don't care about your saved worlds.
I have done exactly that before and I just tried again. All that happens is I log in (and my internet is definitely connected) then it says 'cannot connect...'. NOT 'login failed' this happens every time!!! And it still says 'not downloaded' in the play offline box! Perhaps it IS my computer!?
Okay, so i have tried all of these solutions and none of them seem to have worked. but what i did try was to actually move the whole .minecraft file and launcher onto another account on my computer. i ran minecraft and WHALLA! it worked just like normal!! i have no idea why, but when i move it back to my computer account it just stuffs up again. i am the only computer administrator and it still doesn't work!! Any ideas?!?

Then redownload the launcher and run it etc.
Personally I doubt this will work, so I will pm you in attempts to have a conversation.
