I get this error message when i log into any server. I will be on for about 40 seconds then it all freezes except me. I cant open chests or use furnaces. I also cannot speak in chat or see anyone else's chat.
I have tried to reinstall java, downgrade java, reinstall minecraft, and turn off my firewall.
Nothing has worked for me and it is really annoying to play like this constantly logging on and off of servers.

This also happens to me. On any server. But it cant be my connection as it randomly started happening with no changes to my network. Also I'm the only one on the network that this happens to.
I have had Minecraft since beta, and this just now happened for the first time. It only happens when I try to log in on one server. All my others work fine. Any ideas?
Never usually have any issues accessing the serve I play on, yet today and last night I have not been able to reach the server and it gives me the same reason.
My java is up-to-date and my cpu/internet are very capable.

If its only on one server, the server is probably down.
This happens to me often, its NOT my internet though!
okay, listen to my story, every so often around 12 at night it cuts out, but in the morning (dont know specific time) it works 100% of the time! but when it gets about mid night again at say,,, 7 ish? it starts doing it leaving me unable to connect for the rest of the night...
1. its not my user

SMS! (SAVE MY SOUL)! XD
Now I KNOW it's my internet because I can get on a server at my friends house, but not at mine. I have a sister who plays minecraft and she cant get on either. when I get on a server it either says Internal exeption java.net socket exeption connection reset, reset by peer, or read timed out. Any help?

Please Help Me With My Problem!!!!!
My son is having the same problem. The strangest think is that his sisters can log in without any problem on the same servers.
If I try to log on to the server with his account from another computer, the problems arises as well.
The only thing I can think of as a source for the problem it's his account... but no idea how to solve it.
What I've done so far:
- removed minecraft and reinstalled it from scratch
- restart the local server
- tried on the latest snapshot
Nothing has changed.
And please don't answer it's the server or the network because all the other members of the family use the same network and the same server without any problem.
I am having the same issues with a server my brother is hosting.
However I can connect to other servers.
Spent an hour and a half with ISP tech support..... He deduced that "java was broken."

Anyways, INTERNAL EXCEPTION: JAVA.NET.SOCKETTIMEOUTEXCEPTION: READ TIMED OUT
That basically means you lost connection to the host because of lag.
Put it this way:
Every player in a server sends PINGS to the host.
The host receives the PINGS and sends out PONGS .
The Players receive the PONGS.
The cycle repeats.
If this cycle doesn't repeat fast enough you get disconnected.
Considering that this happens on every server, its your connection. Probably bandwidth.

machine 1: mac pro running windows 7 via boot camp, runs fine with no problems at all. Switch over to mountain lion, I get this problem.
machine 2: macbook pro running snow leopard, same exact thing happens.
