I run an older computer, it's a Toshiba Satellite A75 S213 Laptop. And when I log into Minecraft, it verifies my account information, but then the screen goes black, and won't go away until I completely close the window. I am wanting to start modding, and I cannot if my computer won't work comfortably with Minecraft.
I have tried all of the following to attempt to get my laptop to run Minecraft:
Installed a fresh copy of minecraft and refreshed minecraft.jar
Re-Downloaded and updated Java
Installed all updates for Windows (I have Windows XP)
I have updated my drivers with the latest software
I ran the advanced minecraft error test, and came back with the results below:
########## GL ERROR ##########
Pre render
1280 Invalid enum
If anyone could help me out here it would be much appreciated. I need to know what's causing this problem, and why my computer will not run Minecraft.
The problem is older computers does not work with the game. MC uses alot of Bytes and you need one gig of RAM. You could upgrade the computer but buying a new one would be much cheaper.
If that is your laptop it should run MC. It's no where near as old as most of the laptops that people show up here.
Try using this display driver from the toshiba site: This is a direct link it was a bit of a pain to find on the site. http://cdgenp01.csd....ds/sa70vidx.exe
The memory is pretty low, so you'd probably want to check out this thread: http://www.minecraft...now-with-video/, to get it running decent if you can get the right video driver to get it working at all.
well the reason you cant start it is due to a bad video card driver. to bypass go to control pannel and switch the view to all. look for the view.(if someone knows the proper term plese let me know)so once there you need to go to advanced.(again comming from my head) and switch the graphics all the way to the left (poor) and fire up minecraft and have fun ! note: this will cause extream lag top suggestion get a new pc.

GL Errors are always caused by bad video drivers. If updating the driver won't work, then there's nothing you can really do, but get a new computer? Even If you force Minecraft to start with unsupported Hardware, It will still lag. Why bother?
I have tried what is here but nothing seems to work. If anyone out there can help me, I will be truly greatful. I'm still new to this modding and stuff...

Knowing this is a old post... But all of this is just wrong.
First of all old Computers work with Minecraft (even windows 98) just make sure you have the right parts and drivers
Bytes? You mean Mega Bytes. Minecraft uses around 300-700 megabytes of RAM (And no more then that) and uses about a little bit of RAM and a medium use of CPU power. (You can force the game however to use more memory)
Also you could fix this problem easily with the use of updating drivers and editing there config files.

Retired StaffYou'll have better luck making a new topic in the mod development section: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum/140-modification-development/
And asking for help there.
