So my laptop is really good, it can run GTA IV on the highest graphics with no lag. I just got AC3 and it runs as smoothly as a babys butt. But minecraft lags really bad for me, I have to put the render distance on short and the graphics on fast without smooth lightning so it will work smoothly. Any way to fix this? I really hate the short render distance. Also I do have a PC but it's windows 8 and no game works on it :X Thanks in advance.

I don't wanna sound like a badass but... I eject my USB without safely removing it first.
You might have accidentally deleted some files, as there may be a problem with the files "interacting" as they need the correct scripts to run. Or it might just be that minecraft is so low quality that your laptop is throwing it up. I am unaware of any way to fix this, as I am a damned mac user, but I can tell you to check the files. Things to check: Are any files named exactly the same? Are any files missing? Do any of the files have the same codes? If this doesn't work, do you have mods? It could have been a mod you downloaded that screwed it all up, because I know firsthand that if a file is named the same as another file, the Minecraft folder won't know what to do.
Well I think all the files are there but indeed when I downloaded minecraft my computer was like ''wth man are you shttin me?'' seriously though I think it runs slow because it's a java game and java isn't for games but still on my older PC which sucked btw minecrafted actually worked smoothly on the highest graphics..

Hmm first of all my laptop is a really strong computer so I don't think that's the problem. This monster runs the newest games there are at the highest graphics without a problem. Also I got another PC at my dads place, and that pc is really crazy with windows 7 and still it can't run minecraft smoothly. This game is messed up..

Ikr? I'm only on a mac. Even those crappy PC users get more stuff than I can imagine. I miss the old days of having a lot. Too bad I have the world's worst windows 7 computer down in my basement.
Oh btw no I don't have any mods I hate mods and game modifications
Well that's just too damn bad isn't it. You know, optifine really helps smooth out the game with out changing anything else. But it's a mod after all so...
Do you have advanced opengl on? Having it on is very good for performance.
I guess optifine really isn't an option since you hate all mods. Optifine is a mod that streamlines your graphics, and gives you basically every graphics option ever, allowing most people to at least double their FPS while in-game.
Minecraft doesn't even start on my win8 computer. Also Amnesia dark decent also doesnt work and age of mythology too. Guess it's a problem on my end. Also I didn't know such a mod existed, if it doesn't change anything else in the game I don't have a problem with it Downloading the correct java now too. Thanks a lot for the help guys.

The issue usually stems from having switchable graphics. You will need to open the Nvidia or AMD control panel and set java.exe and javaw.exe to high-performance mode. Unfortunately, they do not detect Minecraft as a game and run in low power mode. Of course, there are other things that can cause this issue as well, but this is by far the most common one.
Yep, there is an easy solution: travel back in time, and don't let past you buy a laptop, and then with that money buy a real gaming computer (or just a regular computer, even the most basic computer will probably be better than your laptop)
If time travel is not available to you, for whatever reasson, then you are in a bit of a problem, since you only have a laptop, and a windows 8 pc... and neither of those is good for gaming.
Minecraft needs a lot of resources, (a lot more than the games you mentioned) and your computer is just not able to handle it. Most probably because your graphic card won't be good enough. But don't quote me on this, since I don't have a clue about your specific problem, I am just talking in general. Graphic cards in laptops are not even "real" graphic cards, just integrated ones.
And ways to solve this... you should take a look at the usual fixes: giving more ram to minecraft, using optifine, playing in a smaller window, updating your java, and reducing the settings to the minimum.
I am, most of the time. But I am an idiot that knows that with the money you spend buying a laptop with a beautiful sony, or hp, or whatever sign in it, you can get a pc 3 times better.
(At least, I hope that is why you are calling me an idiot. I don't see any other reason. But then again, people who randomly insult other people in the net, without any provocation, don't usually use their reason, so... who knows? Let me know if I have hurt you in some way.)
I know a thing or two about gaming computers. I'm typing from one I built. Of course he could have spent his money on one, but telling him to go back in time like an douchbag when you don't even know if he needs a laptop in the first place is just trolling. Now I could be wrong, but if he can play GTA IV, a game that is no slouch when it comes to hardware requirements, I'm going to assume he has a decent video card. Or, if he was exaggerating about max settings, at least Intel 3000 or 4000 graphics. Not the best, but certainly Minecraft capable. I have run Minecraft on the PC equivalent of a toaster. The potential is there, it just needs lots of optimizing; which was the point of the thread, and which you dedicated one cursory sentence to out of your multi-paragraph barrage on his purchasing decisions. Please try to solve the problem, not scold people for having the problem in the first place.
See? Now everything is clear. Wasn't this a lot easier than just calling names for no reason?
Oh, and the solution (or my solution, at least) to the problem of the OP was in my first post, even if this same thread has been posted easily 50 times beofre. Maybe you missed it because you got too tired trying to understand my first 2 paragraphs.
Easier? Absolutely not. I just had to waste my virtual breath explaining myself to you when you clearly know exactly what you are doing.
If OP would actually like help I suggest opening a new thread, in support, obvious this thread didn't start out here.
Post actual details of your laptop. A Dxdiag report.
The fact that it can run a 4 year old game and a game that won't be released to PC until the end of the month doesn't really help diagnose the problem.
Can I get a rep for spending 10 minutes writing that? xD
