If you are un-sure what video card's you have for windows XP and windows 7 type dxdiag into run and then type dxdiag go to display 1. If you have on-board video you need to go to your mother board maker or computer maker.
Either you should update your drivers or your card is too old to even support OpenGL and thus you really shouldn't be trying to even launch minecraft.
To update them its really easy, just open the start menu, right click computer, go into properties, click device manager and find your display adapters, open that up right click the one inside it and do update driver software and make it look online for software.
