I want to try the free version, but when I try to login into client it's telling me login failed.
I am able to login into all the websites no problem.
I followed instructions and downloaded executable 3 times same problem.
I'm running into the same problem with my account, checked the login server it's showing that it's up. I can log into minecraft.net just fine, but trying to log in from either my desktop or my laptop I get the login failed message. I'm really hoping I did not throw away $26.95 buying a license for this if I can't log in to use it online.
Operating systems that I've tried under Windows: Vista Home Edition and Windows 8 Pro, I receive the same error.

Edit: I just found out what was causing my problem. Apparently I created my website account, but did not create a minecraft account. After creating a minecraft account I can log in just fine.
