Just downloaded minecraft 1.4.2 and everytime I try to start a new demo it crashes. Here is the report I get and any help would be appreciated. Here is the error report I get.

Start a new demo?

I have seen the java.lang.arrayindexoutofboundsexception error be a result of a corrupt world. Did you play the demo version and now you're trying to use your demo world in the full version?

My son doesn't have a full account yet so after he logs in the lower right hand section is says "user not premium" in red with two buttons next to it. One says Try Again the other says Play Demo. When you click on the Play Demo button it goes to full screen with a couple of button choices. Play Demo World, Reset Demo World, Texture Packs, Options and Quit Game. When I click on the Play Demo World it crashes. I have tried the reset demo world and then play and it still crashes. It is Minecraft 1.4.2

I have the same problem with minecraft Demo on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit. After the demo map it shows 1-2 frames of the world then it crashes with some stuff about keyboard too. I disabled the ibus daemon but still same problem. Same error occurs with JVM 6.

Did you update lwjgl?
