Hi!
I bought a new gaming pc and I can run almost all games maxed. I can play LoL maxed out while recodring with fraps 60+ fps, Blacklight 60+ FPS, Skyrim 80+FPS, all maxed out. But when I play minecraft, the first 5minutes everything works fine, then the framerate drops from 130fps to 9fps.
I have a i7 3770K IvyBridge
16GB Rarm
1TB HDD
GTX 670 Gigabyte
I have the same problem with my high end computer, Check and make sure you have all the updated drivers for your computer and make sure you got maxium FPS turned on in minecraft video options. If you have windows 7 make sure you got power settings on high performance as well. I seen some rare cases where the video card goes into a power saving mode because it thinks minecraft isn't a high draw game you may have to enable 3d acceleration for minecraft in the nvida controll panel. You need to download 64 Bit java as well as most people only down the 32 Bit java. But i must ask did you by this computer pre-built or did you build your self?

Already updated drivers... Im not sure how to check if Win7 is on high performance and how to enable 3d acceleration on my gpu... I bought parts only, and asked my friend to build it for me, and as he installed Win7 he installed 32bit... 3 weeks from now ill install 64bit so I can use all of my 16GB ram... Thanks man, if you manage to solve this problem please share the solution with mee!!
best regards
You might want to check if your video card is getting enough power to it. If you are running a 32bit OS probley the main problem. Minecraft needs 64Bit java to run right.

I have a 64 bit OS.
4 GB Ram (3.8 available)
Graphics Card unknown
I have Optifine
When I play I get anywhere from 5-25 fps. Before Optifine I was around 5-10. But 25 is still slow and make it hard to play. I would also like to add that I have the 64 bit Java installed but when I change my render distance I get the message in red font that says that I don't have the 64 bit Java.
Should I uninstall some unused programs? Anything else to help me increase my playing speed???

Try and uninstall the 32-bit jre (Java)
After that it worked for me...

Thanks for the advice. I uninstalled the Java that I had and then downloaded and installed the newest one. When I go to "Start" and search "Java" it still says that I have the 32 bit.
I booted up Minecraft and played for about ten minutes and it was somewhat improved. The problem is that I'm getting some major fluctuation in FPS. If I'm walking towards a Taiga biome my FPS will drop to 5. Might that have to do with the fact that I hadn't gone there before? I tried avoiding places that would make my FPS drop and places with a lot of tree usually did that. Maybe it'll get better. However, while I was farming my FPS was anywhere from 20-80. Needless to say a vast improvement and for that I am so thankful.

This is most likely the issue. The GTX 670 has at least 2GB of VRAM by itself. That only leaves ~1.5 GB left for windows and games on a 32bit OS. I dont know why your friend would install the 32bit in the first place as the license key works on both version...

I'll take any other tips if you've got them.
Either way, thanks again!!!
