So, I'm well aware that lots of people have problems with connecting to multiplayer. My problem is a bit different in that I can't even see if any of the servers work in the game. I know they do (I checked Mojang's server list and a few other places), and I know there are people in them. But when I try to join one from Minecraft, I can't. All the servers I've made are stuck at "Polling" and I can't ever see if they're connected or not.
I have a feeling this is an issue with MY computer or my connection. But what is it? And how would I fix it?
Edit: And if I try to join any of them anyway then Minecraft freezes up completely and I can't do anything but Ctrl-Alt-Delete and use Task Manager to get rid of the program.
Try copying your server.dat file into another folder. Then delete it from your .minecraft file. Then, force update and put the server.dat file back in. I had the same problem and that worked for me.
