I've looked around all day for an answer, but nothing seems to work.
Since updating to 1.4 on the MacBook we can no longer right-click to place a single item, from a selected stack of items, onto the crafting table.
The MacBook's track pad is perfectly fine. Right-click works as it should on every other application. We've also tried plugging a mouse in, but again the right-click does not behave in 1.4 as it did in 1.3.
On our desktop PC everything works as it did in 1.3.
I changed "use item" and "pick block" to buttons one and two, which solved the problem of placing single items on the crafting table, but then you cannot place the stack of items back into inventory! You can only exit the crafting table which causes you to drop all the items to be picked up again.
Net result, you cannot craft anything.
I have seen a ton of answers from "hur hur don't use a macbook", to "hur hur enable right-click", to "oh never mind I fixed it and it works fine now" (with no explanation as to WHAT THE PERSON DID to fix it).
So trust me: if you have a 'funny' response I've read it half a dozen times today.
Right click is enabled.
It works in every other application.
Right click worked in 1.3, it is now behaving differently in 1.4 (or 1.4 messed with control settings).
Perhaps those with a MacBook who have solved this problem could tell me what control settings they are using?
Does anyone know which control option is "place single item from stack into a slot on the crafting table" and which is "place selected stack of items back into an inventory slot"?
I have had problems with my PC which i rarely use though whenever i try to pick a block up from creative or something i get a stack and connot place one. But I havent seen this one before Hmm
Have you tried to reboot your computer and unplugging the mouse before that might work... (Just putting it out there..)
There are threads around the web but they are all answered with either smart-**** answers ("lol dunt uze mac hur hur!!!111") or the person answering their own question with "never mind I figured it out, thanks everyone".
But they just do not seem to work the same way as on the PC. You cannot just pick up a stack of items, place one in a slot on the crafting table, then place that stack back in your inventory.
I use a macbook pro and this is how I fixed it. Change the pick block button to something like 'p' (i think you only use pick block in creative anyway). After you change it, you should be able to right click stacks now to halve them and place only one.

What does "Pick Block" do in the crafting table?
What does "Use Item" do in the crafting table?

Driving me nuts.
That is one of the symptoms of this problem.
We've used track pad and mouse. The machine has been rebooted several times since the 1.4 update.
It seems many people have had this problem but those who have the answer have never actually posted it.
There seems to be no documentation on what each of the control options does in each game mode.

Or (as stated by above) set Pick Block to P.
Use Item and Pick Block cannot interact with the crafting table however.
