Most likely it is a hamachi related issue (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamachi_(software))
Hamachi is grabbing 5.x.x.x. addresses for its own use when they are not supposed to be.
I think merely having an interface (virtual or not) in your network configuration with a 5.x.x.x/8 address on it could cause your packets to get misdirected into the void.
I'm trying to connect to a couple of minecraft servers whose IP addresses start with 5. One is located in Ireland and one in France.
They are **not** Hamachi servers. Other people can connect to these servers just fine. So I'm pretty sure the problem is on my end.
I can reach other servers just fine.
I did have Hamachi installed on my Mac once upon a time but I removed it. Could some Hamachi configuration be stuck in my machine?
Anyone have any other ideas what could be going on?
Thanks,

Even though I removed it I guess some configuration was left behind.
I reinstalled it and did the official uninstall and now I can get to those servers.
Thanks for the help.
