After I updated to 1.4.2, I have not been able to play. When I press log in, the screen goes black after a few seconds. After a few more seconds, I find myself at the login screen. Minecraft has killed the whole X session. I run Linux Mint.
This issue is still there for me. Updating lwjgl hasn't helped. This is the output I get when running java -Xmx1024M -Xms512M -cp minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame

The issue has not been resolved by upgrading to 1.4.4. Has nobody but me experienced this? I also get the "could not write bytes: Broken pipe" error when X dies.
This is your issue, on Linux machines, Minecraft will not work with the default LWJGL that it ships. Please update LWJGL.
