i haven't played MC in a few months, decided to pick it up again given 1.4.2. game froze on launch. here's what i have and what i've done:
win7 x64 sp1 on
amd phenom II X6
amd radeon hd 6900
16gb ram
deleted appdata/roaming/.minecraft
downloaded newest binary from minecraft.net
uninstalled all java versions, installed v7u9 x64
updated video drivers to latest
still stuck!
all I get is this: http://imgur.com/5JAYF
and it hits my computer hard, can't do much until i close it. cpu and ram don't seem to spike too much (~20%/200mb) but it makes everything lag. feels like a java problem - not even getting the front page of the minecraft news when launching the client.
downloaded and ran magicminecraftlauncher, got this
*** MagicMinecraftLauncher 1.0.0 ***
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: net.minecraft.client.Minecraft
at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source)
at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source)
at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
at magic.launcher.Launcher.main(Unknown Source)
so yea... not fun. any help would be greatly appreciated and i really don't feel like reinstalling windows just yet.
to note, magic launcher takes a good chunk of time after launch to get the minecraft news and I'm getting some weird display issues in windows during this process. now the launcher is being very laggy and freezy...

It looks like your AntiVirus may have been blocking magic launcher from downloading the game. (I'm not even sure if it does that.. I don't use it myself)
Try running the default minecraft launcher (minecraft.exe from http://minecraft.net)
See if that will download the files on it's own. As it stands right now minecraft isn't installed on your computer. (or at least not in the default location)
