Hey, I built a computer that had pretty nice specs. (Good Processor and 32 gigabytes of Ram.) I am hosting a server with 16gb of that and running minecraft with 8. I was getting a solid 125 FPS. Then all of a sudden I was getting 4 fps... And the server was lagging like crazy. I tried restarting my computer and it said the processor was overheated. So I turned my computer off for a couple hours and it still is not working like it used too.
I scanned for viruses already.
Anyone have any ideas?
-Thanks, AlexIts also taking about 30 seconds to load worlds. That ain't right. :3EDIT: I also tried restarting internet, Not sure that would help... But oh well.
Is the server also running on your computer? They could both be using a large amount of RAM, and both lagging. It could also be your java. What version do you currently have?
If your computer said that the processor overheated, obviously that means that the processor got hot. Odds are you don't have enough ventilation in your case. Either you don't have enough fans, don't have large enough fans, or don't have enough ventilation holes in your case (vents with no fans). Try using a free program called speedfan to turn up the speed of your fans, instead of your computer adapting the fan speed with cpu and gpu strain. That may help. If that doesn't help, try buying some more fans to ventilate your case. You may possibly even need a new case with more ventilation.
EDIT: I read more and realized that you reported that it is still happening even after restarting your computer. You may have fried your processor, but let's hope that's not the case. But you DEFINITELY need more ventilation in the computer case if this is the problem.

Alright, I turned my computer off for 24 hours but the computer is still quite laggy =/ I have 4 fans in my computer is that not enough? The computer is quite well ventilated.

The case came with 2 fans. And I never ran my computer without the heatsink fan I don't think that I fried the CPU. =/
EDIT: I used to be able to get 200 FPS on far render distance, Now I can only get 15 on Tiny. Dat not right.

Retired StaffEDIT: Nope. My java was outdated but it didn't help server run faster
