The reason why the appdata directory doesn't exist is because I deleted it trying to resolve the problem. It seems like Java is the problem but I am clueless as to how to resolve this. Any help is much appreciated! thank you!
try running the batch file from the folder you have the minecraft.exe
The minecraft.exe can not be found in the current directory.
Put the minecraft.exe in the same directory as this batch script
and run the batch again.
Or drag the minecraft.exe on top of this batch file
