My friend and I have been playing minecraft for the last month or so. Most of our playing is over LAN using the direct connect option. We play on the same network using wireless connections in the same household.
We were able to play a couple days after the latest patch. 1.4.2. but now we can no longer connect to each other. Regardless of who hosts, we get the Failed to Connect screen.
Both of our clients are unmodded, we both have the latest java, and we've both tried clean installs several times as well as forcing the update. We are both able to connect to multiplayer servers just fine. It seems to be an issue with the LAN but nothing has changed since we were able to play after the 1.4.2 update.
To try and resolve this, we have tried hamachi as well as hosting our own server, but it was easier and the performance was better using the direct connection.
