I updated minecraft and when i went to split a stack of wood in half to do crafting nothing happens. There are a few people who have the same issue. I have tried changing the controlls and the game reads the button being pressed. When I change the button, the new button does not even work. I generally use "Right Click" or button 2 and it does not work during gameplay however everywhere else it works. Does anyone know what i can do to fix it. Btw i am using Mac OS 10.8 and I am on a mid 2012 Macbook Pro 13" 2.5ghz with 4GB of Ram.

Pick block is selecting the type of block you're aiming at in creative and putting one instance of it in the inventory, however you're describing splitting a stack of items into two.
The default controls would be,
Button 1(Left click) attack
Button 2 (right click) Use
Button 3 (scroll button) Pick block

Right Click is Pick Block for me and it does not work. I can change it to anything and no luck. When i select a block with Right click it will not divide the stack of blocks in half.
I normally change Pick block to something like T. You might want to try changing your USE button to right click (button2) and see if that can split the stack in half. Pick block doesn't do anything like that.

Thanks for your help but I had no luck, "USE" did not work that way. I was able to eat and therefore use what i had in my hands but i can not pick up half stacks of items.
