I was trying to update my minecraft to 1.4.2 the Pretty Scary update but I got an error message that said, "Fatal error occured (4): null". So I deleted everything Minecraft-related on my computer including everything in the .minecraft folder because I didn't know what else to do. I redownloaded the Minecraft.exe and when I tried to update I got the same message. I did the advanced error test from here and I got this:

That isn't really showing an error. It looks like it's loading up just fine. Your not going to be able to connect to a server because the error tester puts you into offline mode.
If you are having trouble with the default launcher it's likely that your AV/firewall are blocking it somehow.
Help Please!!!???

Retired StaffYou can try using an alternate launcher like MultiMC. (AVs tend to leave it alone because it saves minecraft to a different location)
You can Adjust the settings in your AV to allow Minecraft/java more access.
You can temporarily disable your AV.
Can you please help?

Retired StaffI'd recommend updating the graphics driver. AMD naming is a bit odd, but I think those are older drivers. Link here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/legacy/Pages/legacy-radeonaiw-vista64.aspx
