Recently I used Minecraft forums and my account was migrated to Mojang with my email as username for login purpose. I then tried to play the game offline after obtaining a mod (shapeshifter) and the window was frozen. After multiple attempts also I could not play the game offline. Today I uninstalled the offline game and tried to download offline game again after logging in to minecraft web site. I also tried to play the game in browser from minecraft web site. I updated Java as the website came up with the message that Java is out of date.
Both online and offline attempts to play the game now come up with a frozen window. 'Updating Minecraft Done loading'.
