Can't access minecraft files

In the process of downloading a parkour map I have managed to make all my minecraft files inaccessable.
I see them in my directories but they are not recogniezed anymore when I login to my account.

Where should the files be located?

what operating system do you have?

an easy way to find where they should be would be to open the client, hit the options button, then the link provided
