MC Freezes when joining a server

Ok so I got ot direct connect (it has happened in 1.3.2 and 1.4.2) then I put in ip (only ips with port :25565 do this) minecraft freezes for 2 minutes then it works fine when it finally joins the server! I have deleted and gotten .minecraft back but it does nothing! I NEED HELP

Same happends to me freezes for 1min when im joining a server.... and then it says took to long to join... HELP PLZ

I just encountered this problem very recently. As a reset of your minecraft directory does not fix it, it must be a network issue. For me I know it was client side because it happened on all servers. There seems to be something up with the connection protocol freezing the game (maybe a bad packet?) But, I am not so lucky about it actually working after 2 minutes! The server kicks me for taking too long to log in. If it's a laptop, try connecting to an ethernet cord instead. It is not lag we seem to be dealing with, it's something else.
