My minecraft won't update it gives me the option to update but when I click on yes and it says Fatal error occured (2):C:\Users\Home\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin\version (Access denied) please help I've try'd what I could think of
My minecraft also wont update. I get a failed to launch message that says "Fatal error occured (4)" followed by the path to the mincraft.jar folder. What can I do to update minecraft?
Hi, i have the exact same thing as jacks problem happening to me, I have windows vista and mcafee antivirus. Mcafee never gave me a problem with the game before though. I was told to delete the minecraft.bin folder and that people with this problem had it work afterward, but it didn,t work for me and its been about a week now.

Vista is more likely the problem in your situation.
I was lucky enough to skip from XP to Win 7, so I'm not sure how to fix the issue the proper way. (It's likely you need to adjust permissions or run as admin) But I can tell you a good work around.
If you use MultiMC to launch minecraft, it moves the minecraft install out of the roaming folder. Vista can be over protective of programs in the roaming folder. So simply by moving the install to a different location it's likely to solve the issue.
