I really love playing LAN servers with my brother, and it's always worked for me until recently... They have stopped working for me. I can still play them with him because he can host them and it works, but whenever I host one it comes up for him but when he tries to connect it just says it's connecting to the server for ages then it says it times out and it will never work. It always used to work, but it stopped recently. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and what I can do to fix it? If so, please do! Me and my brother are both using Minecraft 1.4.2. We tried downgrading to 1.3.2 to see if it was just a problem with the new update, but that wasn't it. Once again, please help if you can!
Ok, I know this is way off topic but I need help,
my favourite server hasn't been online for ages and
It came on...
But I updated Minecraft and my update is too high.
Is there any way I can "downgrade" my update so I can
go on it.
Please reply.

There is always the program MCnostalgia. It allows you to downgrade minecraft.
It's illegal (or at least against Minecraft's rules) to distribute previous versions of the game. I know you're not the one releasing it, but telling people how to get those files isn't a very good idea.
Anyway, I don't know how to fix the timed out issue. Until you find a solution, you can transfer one of your worlds to your brother's computer, and play over LAN that way. Do a google search if you want to see how you can access your minecraft saves. This might be a bit of a hassle, but this problem is most likely a bug in the game itself. If it is, there's no way of you hosting a LAN server at the current time.

Good luck!
I do know how to access my saves, so that could work for now. What I'm confused about, is the fact my brother CAN host one and I can't!
