So I was going to update minecraft, So I was looking at the roaming file You know? And this winrar file popped up and now it won't let me play offline!

So I have minecraft 1.1 and I wanted to update. I tried force update, but it never seems to work.
I I went to the roaming file thing, and I clicked on version. I couldn't open it so I gave up. And I'm not entirely sure what happened next but then this file called : minecraft popped up, theres a file one, then there the one that popped up, the one that popped up is called a: WinRar ZIP archive, then I gave up, and went to play singleplayer minecraft and the button was dark grey( implying I coulnd't click it) And under it in white words it said: Not downloaded. Well now I'm worried I did something and I'm not gonna be able to play again. And I'm panicking because my older brother has this GIANT world filled with towers, castles, and bridges.

And when I try to play it says Not downloaded!Do I need to keep the winrar ZIP file?
and if force updating doesnt work then just delete .minecraft, it will make a new one once you open it
