two Windows laptops CAN connect on my LAN (i seem to recall they had to type in the IP address, since selecting it from the server list just timed out) - but it DID work
currently trying to LAN connect Mac (with Lion OS X 10.7.4) and Windows 7 laptop
- both are running 1.4
- each have it's own separate minecraft account
doing Open to LAN from Mac:
========================
- Windows CAN NOT see it in multiplayers server list
- Direct connect with IP says Connection Refused
- Direct connect with IP plus port (5 digits added) times out
doing Open to LAN from Windows:
===========================
- Mac CAN see it in multiplayers server list
- Selecting "Join Server" to connect says "Connecting to the server..." for about 30 sec, then Minecraft either crashes, or times out
- Direct connect with IP times out
- Direct connect with IP plus port (5 digits added) times out
PS: when i select "Multiplayer" in Minecraft on the Mac, i get a dialog:
"Do you want application Minecraft to accept incoming network connections?"
to which I say "Yes"
