Minecraft pre-1.4 release - Solo Survival
Issue : World acts like corrupted, MCEdit says it's fine
Possible reason : Power outage when playing / Linking overworld to the Nether (May be both!)
What's happening :
First, here's my map display "Village A ===== House ===== Village B"
-When Blackout happened, I was in House.
-I fell in a Chunk Error between Village A and House soon after power came back.
-World couldn't load until i placed myslef in Village A with MCEdit
-If I go from Village A to House, mobs are frozen (idle and can't interact with them), only a part of the first half of the house can be seen, and after that, the map becomes infinite chunk error. No cows in my Stable.
-If I go from Village B to House, there's no mob at all on the way. Only a part of the second half of the house can be seen. My wheat farm sometimes is complete, sometimes not...
-From wherever I load my game (Village A or , when I quit near the buggy zone, I always reload from the village, like nothing happened...
-Seen from MCEdit, there's no problem. House is complete, cows are in the stable, there are mobs on both paths, no holes in the map. When using the Repair function, only 1 files is corrupted, but repairing it dosen't change anything...
But... :
-I've got a shortcut from Village A to Village B using Nether Portals, and I was planning to make one more in House
-I've built a Portal, lit it and entered it, it leads to the Nether Portal already linked to Village B, so Portal A goes to Nether A, Portal B AND House go to Nether B. Backwards, Nether B brings to Portal B, not House
-In MCEdit, my player with name is where I fell in chunk error, but the basic Player is right in front of the House Portal, looking down, like he just lit it...
What's the real problem ? I mean, after using the house portal, I played a bit to test what leads to where, but I can't remember if it was before or after the power outage...
Anyone's got an idea ? I can upload my save (40Mo, 25Mo zipped) if someone wants to check it ?
Screens :
And now, ingame from 2 different angles :
And the ingame map - Error Area is based on where the mobs glitches and where I awfully lag ! Lots of chunks! (approx. 100 )
EDIT : With MCEdit, I've completely erased the house and the problem remains...
Chunkster dosen't work in my case. It stopped working at the 1.2 mark, and I'm in pre-1.4...
I'll try Minecraft Region Fixer now, but it seems a little bit tricky
And the second app dosen't work either. It says something like "No Region Found".
My guess is that the thread is outdated because it's from January and the 1.2 update (March) changed world format (from Region to Anvil)
What the app says :
Warning: No region files found in the "region" directory!
Info: No nether dimension in the world directory.
There are 0 region files and 2 player files in the world directory.
#################### Scanning level.dat ####################
'level.dat'\ is redable

How to fix bad chunks when it seems normal? Everything looks fine in MCEdit (not like the first time when I could see a hole in the map).
And from where I come, it's not the same thing. From one way, there's frozen passive mobs (Sheeps, Chickens...), from the otherside no mobs at all ! From one side, half of the house is "like" a chunk error but my wheat is safe, from the otherside, no house at all but half of the wheat also vanish...
As a chunk is a 16x16 zone, it includes at least 15 of them, which are weeks of work. Simply deleting it is purely random, except if i nuke the entire zone... And even with this solution, it's only approximative as I don't really know from where to where it's bugged.
Edit : With the Select Chunk option, it's about 100+ chunks where I lag, deleting all of the resolves the problem, erasing only my house does anything... I'll have to make many many test to find where is the crappy one !
Player343 is you if im correct btw and about the chunk have you tried building there or is it just a blank hole? maybe you should mc edit it in? IM not so sure about this one.

I revamped first post as I tried many things... Player 343 was not important, forget about it
It's not a single chunk problem, it's like a line from where everything disappears, and before it, mobs are screwed (none or frozen, depending). It a zone so large that it includes chunks where I build a massive house, but also areas I left alone apart from taking one or two blocks... I'll add some screen later to show it
Yes, but when electricity came back, I did everything like nothing happened, left the zone but when I came back it was bugged ! But I clearly saw it after the blackout !
I've erased everything around my constructions (more than 200 chunks...) and now it works...
All I lost is all my underground work, mainly caverns I went one or two times, putting torches and getting ores, and some terraforming.
Do you have a backup of anykind? that may be better. If not MAKE BACKUPS!!!!!!
I had done a lot of work since the last backup, and the boring kind ! That's why my priority was to repair it
The chance I had was that my underground cave system was not around, just holes I found and I went down once or twice to get the ores...

Moderatori know you said you looked at the map in mcedit, did you try just deleting the chunks causing a problem and letting the game regenerate them?
