Hey all;

I've been away for a while, and decided that i would update my client, as it hadn't been done since 1.3.2.

So, I downloaded and installed the 12w41b snapshot, so i could see some of these new developments that have been made. I immediately noticed two things (I'm sure there are more, but these are the two that i noticed first).

1) All of my sounds had disappeared. There is no walking on grass sound, opening doors sound, chests... nothing. I force updated back to 1.3.2, and all of the sounds were back, so one would assume that this was caused by something pertaining to the update, yes?

2) Part of the area in front of my house and over my underground tube system had literally collapsed. It was as if 100 creepers exploded at the same time, in one location. I'd never seen anything like it... Have mine collapses been added since 1.3.2?
I went ahead and repaired the area to it's original state.

These, as i've said, are the first two things i noticed, and i'm looking out for more. If anyone has any idea how to let me get 12w41b, and my sound as well, I'd love to hear them.

1) I believe you just need to wait awhile for the sounds to download in-game. I heard a lot of other people who had that problem at first.

2) No idea what happened. O_O

Ok, i tried waiting, and it didn't download any sounds 'in-game'

i force updated back to 1.3.2 and everything is there, just as it should be.

I guess i'll stay with 1.3.2 until 1.4 comes out.

I hope and pray that 1.4 isn't as screwed up as all these snapshots seem to be.

Play in singleplayer for 5min connected to internet

it's weird, the sounds only disappeared after i downloaded and installed any clients after 1.3.2.

I always play online, and i've played more than an hour in singleplayer. Some of the sounds are there, but there a still a lot of them missing.

I'm apparently part ninja, because I make no sound whatsoever whenever i walk on grass... there is no splash when i jump in the water, and don't even get me started on the total lack of piston sounds.

I need to hear grass being stomped...

If anybody else has any threads where this problem has been solved for others, please let me know.

It's likely your Anti-Virus is blocking the sounds from downloading. (Force updating back to 1.3.2 works, because the 1.3.2 sounds are still there)

If you have AVG (most common offender) you need to disable the Link Scan portion of it in order to download the new sounds (while playing)

McAfee will also block sounds from downloading.

I'm sure other AVs will as well, but those are the 2 I know block it.

ok, here's the update.

I completely disabled my a/v software (i'm using pc tools spyware doctor w/antivirus), and launched MC. I played for approximately 2 hours, and the splashing water sounds or walking on grass sounds never came back.

I wonder if there is a way, to take the sound from 1.3.2, and put them in the sounds folder for MC?

just wondering.
