My daughter has been trying to play Minecraft on my main home computer with no luck. I have tried Java 6 and 7 and it doesn't seem to matter what I do to try to work-around this issue, it just doesn't seem to work.
We are trying to play the demo version because I don't want my daughter to fork out any money for a game that won't run on our computer. I have her playing on our laptop at the moment but it runs fairly slowly and she hasn't been impressed with its performace.
The error report below seems to indicate that there is some sort of issue with our keyboard, but that is hard to fathom as I have no problems with my keyboard with any other java applications or with any other software on this computer.
We are not using any modded version, simply the demo version directly available within the minecraft.net website.
I've searched through these forumns and have found no other references to this specific error so I'm hoping someone can help track down what the problem is and get it resolved. I've actually found a few references to this error where the issue ended up being a bug in the java applet, but that couldn't be the case here, could it? :-)
Also, I've tried running this in Firefox and IE as well as the download version. None of them will get it to run so it appears to be an issue with Java and not with our browser.
Any help in getting this to work is greatly appreciated. My daughter is excited to play this as she has heard about it from some of her friends.

-100 is actually the left mouse button, I know it says keyboard.. but it probably has something to do with your mouse.
I've heard of java having trouble with certain types of mice, rat5 gaming mouse is one i remember off hand.
You could try something as simple as unplugging the mouse, and plugging it back in. (Sometimes even going into a different usb port helps things out.)
Updating the driver for your mouse.
Try a different mouse, if you have an old one lying around somewhere.
I believe you can get this style crash if you have accidentally bound one key (or mouse button), to more than one Minecraft command.
If you can get to it, check the in game controls settings. Otherwise you can rename your .minecraft/options.txt to reset everything to the defaults.
Well, I'm not sure what fixed the problem but it seems to be working now.
I tried the suggestions from both posters and it actually made the problem worse. After changing the mouse to a different USB port and then updating the LWJGL libraries to both the latest stable and even the nightly, the game wouldn't even load. Before it would start the game and then crash. I tried renaming the options.txt file but that made no difference as well.
The last thing I did was I deleted the entire .minecraft folder and let it re-download everything and now it seems to be working.
-I suspect it might have been the mouse but I'm not sure. I did have the mouse plugged into the back of my keyboard before and now its plugged directly into the motherboard so that could have been the problem all along. The weird thing is that I just switched the mouse back to the USB port on the back of my keyboard and the game works still. I guess its just being moody.
Either way, I appreciate the assistance.

Retired StaffI've heard of java having trouble with certain types of mice, rat5 gaming mouse is one i remember off hand.
You could try something as simple as unplugging the mouse, and plugging it back in. (Sometimes even going into a different usb port helps things out.)
Updating the driver for your mouse.
Try a different mouse, if you have an old one lying around somewhere.
And finally you can try updating the LWJGL libraires in the .minecraft folder. There are instructions on how to do that on the wiki.
If you can get to it, check the in game controls settings. Otherwise you can rename your .minecraft/options.txt to reset everything to the defaults.
I tried the suggestions from both posters and it actually made the problem worse. After changing the mouse to a different USB port and then updating the LWJGL libraries to both the latest stable and even the nightly, the game wouldn't even load.
