I have never had this issue in the past before. I have always been able to play Minecraft on my computer until recently. The computer that I am trying to use to play it has recently been restored so it has been a while, and I am thinking that maybe the cause is from one of the updates?
The computer is a old Compaq Preserio C700 that is still in beautiful condition!
Spec:
Intel Pentium Dual CPU T2370 @ 1.73GHz
2.00 GB Ram
Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family (on-board graphics)
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit OS
(the computer was originally designed to run Vista, however I was able to install Windows 7 on it, but that doesn't matter. I was still able to play)
I can't tell if the lag is coming from CPU or GPU over usage.
What's really interesting is even with the on-board graphics, I used to play games such as Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 and Renegade (RA3 on low settings, Renegade on high) and I was getting beautiful FPS from each one.
I don't understand how this could be happening with a simple game like Minecraft. I am going to try some of my older games on it and see what I get for performance, but is there anything I can do about the Minecraft lag?
Well here's the issue though. Why is it that I have always been able to run higher end games like RA3 in the past?
I have my own theory. My system came with Vista 32-bit. I had upgraded it to Windows 7 32-bit.
I just recently upgraded it to Windows 7 64-bit. Could it be that the processed in my system can't handle a 64bit OS?
Thanks guys. All fixed now. I installed 64-bit Java and made a bat file to run Minecraft on the 64-bit java. Runs a little sluggish still but fully playable.
Thanks for all your help!
