Tried installing some mods for the first time in a while, and when I've tried to update the .jar file to get a clean slate, the update stops halfway. The game itself is playable, however the sound takes about 5 minutes to kick in and work, and there are folders and files missing from the .jar when opened in winrar. I'm at a loss atm. Any ideas?
sidenote: all mod files added make the game black screen after login.
If you are using Windows, open the start menu and search "%appdata%". Hit enter. Now open the ".minecraft" folder. Delete all folders there except texture packs, saves and screenshots. Log in again.
I've tried this, deleting all the files/folders, deleting none then forcing update. Nothing seems to be working. :/
