I used to have minecraft working just fine on my laptop. (windows 7). Last update done was the latest one. Then about three weeks ago I got a corrupted desktop error that took a while to fix.
Once I was able to log into that account again, minecraft would not open. So I deleted everything and re-downloaded it.
Now, nothing happens. If I double click the minecraft installer, it asks for permisison which I grant then nothing. I've tried running as administrator as well.
Any advice? I am getting a little frustrated.
Firewall doesn't seem to be stopping it.
EDIT: I seem to be able to play in the browser at Minecraft.net
In that case try to disable the virusscanner, it can interfere sometimes.
If that doesn't solve it try my test script and post the results back here http://www.minecraft...aft-error-test/
Hmm. None of the links to the script seem to be working at this time. I will try later
You are a truly awesome person. Your script showed me that Minecraft was trying to start using 32 bit java. After going through my files, I discovered I for some reason had a 32 bit and 64 bit verison of java installed, and the 32 bit version was overridding it. After uninstalling all the java downloads and redownloading a 64 bit version of the latest Java, everything works again.
Your script is a life saver. I had tried re-installing java, but never noticed the 32 bit version was also there.
Thank you for your help with this.
