Good evening,

I will first apologize if this has been answered before... but I have yet to find a solution to this.

My minecraft randomly freezes mid-game and the behavior is odd to say the least.

I.e. it will freeze, I will loose the sound, can't move obviously... but I know for a fact that the game still runs since it happened next to enemies the other day and they killed me... as if they could still target me and hit me.

I am running minecraft locally... I tried installing optifine and other mods to see if that would fix it... and it did not... so I am now back with stock minecraft... same problem... ever 5-10 minutes, randomly (as far as I can tell) it will lock up. I pressed F3 trying to identify some kind of lag spike or something... did not find anything.

As far as I know my java is okay... I did over try to re-install it, without any success when it comes to Minecraft... I have an i7 laptop, 6gb, powerful enough for Minecraft if it can play other games without any other issues...

I do not know what is going on.

I am going to try the magic launcher... thanks for the info... I will report if there are any improvements with this.

The launcher did not help... It still froze at random intervals for 5-10 seconds, then it comes back up.

Concerning my Java version, I was pretty sure it was 64 bit as the process in Task manager javaw.exe did not say it was runing in *32bit mode...

I re-installed it anyway to see if it changes anything... thanks again for the suggestions... any other ideas?

I just tried it and it still froze after re-installing java 64 bit... in front of a cave spider... i almost died again lol
