My husband started playing Minecraft a couple weeks ago, and i started playing Monday. A few hours ago, i put my world on our LAN so he could come hang out at my farm. Everything worked perfectly.
Then later, he put his world on our LAN so i could scope out his castle. When i try to "join server," the connection "times out" and fails, then the client crashes and locks up my computer, and i have to force a restart to get out of it.
Once i get my computer back up, i can play single player perfectly fine, and he can join my world perfectly fine, but if i try to join his, it's fail-crash-lock-force-restart again.
I also keep getting a message during the crash-lock-force-restart that says i just plugged a device into my audio jack, but i haven't touched anything.
Our computers are virtually the same, same Windows 7 64 bit, same network cards, same virus software, very little difference in them.
He has installed two texture packs, but he was using the default texture.
I got a "Lora Croft" skin from minecraftskins.info and uploaded it to my profile. When he joins my world, i have the "Lora Croft" skin.
Any ideas what is wrong here?
. . . . . . . . . .
Update: After the first couple of forced restarts, now when it fails to connect to his server, it doesn't always crash the client and lock up my computer.
However, as it is failing to connect, that little message pops up saying that i have plugged a device into my audio jack, and it kicks me off of our network, all at the same time. Then i still have to restart again because my computer can't figure out how to get back on the network, it tells me there is a problem with the router... but remember my husband is still on the network and on the internet at the time, so there is no problem with the router.
Meanwhile, we both checked to make sure our firewalls were allowing Java, and also added Minecraft.exe to them. No change.
