Well, this is simple: I don't want to set-up a minecraft server on my laptop because...well, it's a Laptop! I tried but the lag was simply annoying (And YES, I read all the topics about make my minecraft experience better, faster and stronger, and it works, but not enough at all for the server). So...I see that little thing on the one-player mode called OPEN TO LAN. I don't know why this option is on the single player mode, but with my faith in the mankind restored, I try this option with my girlfriend. We got no other results than a sad "Connection Timed Out: Connect".
This is what I tried so far:
* An old-school LAN cable. Same effect than the traditional wireless modem.
* Different IP's, different accounts
* Player 2 connecting by "Direct Connect" option, typing my IP on the Adress.
* Playing offline with the LAN cable, without connecting to the wi-fi web.
We have no mods, texture packs, different versions or non-registred accounts.
make sure if using an ethernet cable that you disconnect or turn off wireless. If you didnt allow java through your firewall at one point, you may have to reconfigure the firewall settings. Me and my friend play on LAN using either a cable or routing through my phones hotspot on our Win 7 laptops and it usually works pretty well. But the ethernet drivers are a bit finicky on mine so I usually have to restart before it detects the cable.
Hey, Vogon, thanks for stopping by. We've already checked both of our firewalls and added both Java and Minecraft to the permitted programs list, we also tried setting off the wireless connections (both of our computers and by simply turning off the router) and we've even tried to set a network via Hamachi since both of our computers have had issues before when setting up LAN connections. Nothing changed: the networks are up, but our Minecraft clients won't connect.
Any more ideas?

So... can somebody help us with this?
