Minecraft 1.3.2
I finally decided to upgrade.
I wanted a clean install, so I cut and pasted everything to another location.
Went to the website, downloaded the new .exe installation file and proceeded with the download.
Minecraft started as soon as the download was complete. Then promptly crashes with no visible error message.
If I try opening the game a second time, it seems to load just fine.
Unfortunately, there is no sound.
When I go into the options, music and sound slide bars are both in off positions. If I attempt to change them, the game immediately crashes.
If I check out the .minecraft folder. The folder (resources). Has absolutely nothing in it.
I know that there should be sound files and other folders in this folder.
For some reason they refuse to download.
I have tried this multiple times and get the same result.
I have Microsoft, Windows 7 Professional 64bit, Service pack 1.
8gs of RAM
7 TB of hard drive space.

Yes on the force update.
I see no error report.
Did not work.
Same.
Most of this report has to do with MultiMC 4.1.0.16, and I realize you don't answer questions about that. But I thought perhaps there might be a clue.
This is not a problem with MultiMC 4.1.0.16.
The sound files and such are not downloaded using this program either.

This report is generated after I click on one of the slide bars in the game to set sound, where it promptly crashes.
