ok so i have two computers and i want to put the minecraft e.x.e onto the other computer but whenever i try to copy the exe it say's that either i don't have the appropriate permission or that the disk is write protected
i know for a fact that my usb isnt write protected and i am the admin of the pc and so i should have permission.
also i cannot download the launcher so that isnt gonna fix it ..
i have windows xp on this computer and windows vista on the computer that im trying to copy too if you need any other info just ask
Then it sounds like a permissions thing on the vista PC.
I never used vista, was lucky enough to skip from xp to 7, so I'm not comfortable trying to walk someone around in it checking the account permissions. Even on an admin account it is possible that write permissions could have been changed.
Lots of permissions are broken in Windows Vista. You just gotta upgrade, I don't know what else to say. You could find more answers on a Windows support forum than on MinecraftForums, as this is a windows file system issue and the problem itself is not related to minecraft in any way.
P.S. Do you own the vista PC? If it is part of a business or office domain, they may have blacklisted files named 'minecraft'. This would explain your inability to download or copy or run the file.
