Okay, I am new to Minecraft as well as these forums, so excuse me if this is in the wrong place.
I am trying to run Minecraft on my Dell Inspiron 1420 running windows 8 release preview, and I am getting this error message:

I have tried many of the solutions others have suggested online, but nothing is working for me. I really want to play this game, and find it unfair and frustrating that I paid the $27, and can't play.
Means you don't have the right drivers for your video card installed. Depending on your card there may or may not be win 8 drivers for it already. But you'll need to check the manufacturers website and look up your specific card and download the proper drivers for it if they have released them yet. And for a Dell laptop, you'll have to hope that dell released the branded version of the drivers for the card.
From what I see on the dell site they didn't even release windows 7 drivers for your laptop.
If you have the intel graphics version of the 1420, it's not likely there will ever be windows 8 drivers.
ignore that other dude he doesn't know what he's talking about the reason why it isn't working is because dell is a dip and haven't come out with a update for windows 8 yet i know becouse my dads a leader in a computer company and i had the same problem so he found out for me and he said they don't have an update for windows 8 yetoh and i have dell latitude e5400 and this is what my minecraft says

and how do you know that, dumbass is ur dad a super cp genius who is second incharge of a cp company (not a manufactoring one) it is dell because they need to come up with an update for the software of windows 8
Dell doesn't write the drivers. Intel writes the drivers, dell just distributes it with the laptops they manufacture.
It's on intel to release drivers for the video card in the laptop.

Retired Staffin the search box, type dxdiag
go to the display tab
If it says intel, go back to what ever version of windows you had before 8
If it says Geforce or Nvidia, you may be in luck.
