I'm running MC (Single player) on my HP Folio13 (Specs: http://www.hp.com/united-states/campaigns/folio13/specs.html#.UGPcT02ceiA )
And i am finding performance to be fine for the first minute of play, then it starts getting really jerky and chunky... then if I flick through the "Viewing Distance" options from normal all the way through back to normal it works fine for a minute or two then starts getting chunky again.
So What I'm guessing is that as it "draws" more of the landscape it gets slower...
If I set it to the shortest drawing distance it still has the same issue, but takes a little bit longer to get to it (but makes the nether world unplayable due to the mist and the Ghasts).
Is there some way i can (quicker than going to options and manually clicking the button) keep resetting the drawing distance and refreshing it so the impact is lower?
For such a "simple" game it really does make the hardware _work_ hard...
Try the mod optfine ultra. It helps with FPS and chunk loading (Have a look at all the settings, they're really useful, locate them under video settings)

To all of you people who think Notch is still working on the game, he stopped working on Minecraft in late 2011. Get your facts straight and stop spamming his twitter about Minecraft updates.
