Hi there fellow people, before starting i have already posted this before but just on a different account by superbman321, anyways lets start.
I have been encountering a problem of sorts that disables me from playing minecraft and many other games. this is how it happens. I log in like any other person would and start playing, after a few minutes the screen will flicker black. if i dont close minecraft immediatly then it will get worse and end up making the whole screen black forcing me to restart my computer. On some occasion an error message popped up saying too many errors occured indicating a serious problem from which the driver cannot recover. The application must close. it also gives you this url link http://nvidia.custhe...o-many-errors”. Are these both the same thing or are they different?
These are my system stuff:
OS:Microsoft Windows XP
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.20GHz
RAM:1GB
GPU:NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT
I will also say that I have installed optifine to see if it will help but it did not work. The weird thing is that i have been playing tekkit recently and i have had no problems untill lately it started happening. The other weird thing is that it did not start once i had updated to minecraft 1.1, it happened about a month later. This does happen to other games that i play aswell so it would be very apreciated if someone could help.
EDIT: My whole computer is now doing this and so i can only be on for a few minutes before it acts up again but this time it dosn't flicker just goes black. I have also relised that the fans seem to be quiter then usually.

Things i have done so far:
Change Advanced OpenGL on and off in minecraft
install latest video card drivers 301.42
uninstall video card drivers then install again
Uninstall all mods
I have downloaded the program and it says that the driver is usually around 100Co with out any games running, is this normal because it sounds like it is not. And yes it is the whole moniter that goes black. Another thing is that it sounds like the fans are quiter then usual.
First thing to check is if you GPU has a cooling fan.
It looks like most 6600's do.
While the computer is running, look to see if the fan is spinning.
If it's not spinning at all, it's likely time to buy a new GPU.
If it is spinning, maybe a good cleaning will get it running at temp again.
Best way to clean it is with compressed air. Most stores that have an electronics section, will sell cans of compressed air.
Use that to blow out the fans, removing the dust and gunk that has built up. (make sure the computer is off for this part)
Fire up the PC, and use the program to monitor temperatures again.
Sorry for the delay but i did what you said and i located the video card but one side of the video card is blocked of by another thing so i could not see fan. I just gave it a spray and this didn't stop it but it did stop the computer from blacking out so thanks. When i went to see if it worked on minecraft it went from 84Co to 94Co very rapidly, so i think it's time to buy a new computer. This one has lasted around 5 years or so. thanks for your support.
