Fraps hotkey won't work for Minecraft

I want to try and use Fraps to record my Minecraft gameplay, but the hotkey to record won't work. After Googling, I saw that it will only work with something like DirectX games and the like. So, how do you record Minecraft, then?

Try setting the hotkey to f12 or f9, I don't use fraps but the program I use I need to make it an f key.

9 and 12 aren't used by minecraft for anything.

I have tried F9, but pressing it doesn't do anything no matter what program I have up.

Fraps also works with OpenGL games, which Minecraft is.

Can you try in some other game?

I've used fraps.. I know it works.. I'm not near my pc that, well is good for anything, so can't fire it up right now and try it out.

If you have an older version of fraps, try downloading the demo of the latest version and see if that works for you.

I tried using it on Portal, but the same thing: the button did nothing.

Now, please don't kill me, but...
I should have mentioned that I am running Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS...
If that is anything important, then I am really sorry.

Fraps has no WINE support, not to mention native Linux support.

Get gtk-recordmydesktop if you want to record on Ubuntu.
