I just bought a new laptop for my son and he loves minecraft for xbox and wanted it for pc. I have windows 7, my java is up to date. I downloaded it and when he logs in it prompts him to update and when we do we get the error. When we choose not to update it stays stuck. I have researched this and I have disabled firewall and antivirus and it still didnt work. I went as far as uninstalling my Mcafee and still same error. I am at a loss and I paid for this service. He cannot even play online it does the same thing. I am not that technical but can figure things out with help. So any help would be appreciated.
O when I uninstalled the Mcafee I also turned off windows firewall.
Ok heres what you are going to do, go to Start>Search "%appdata%, find Minecraft. Open the folder that says "Bin", And Remove all those files. Launch minecraft and it will say "Downloading Minecraft". It should open and your set.
