I changed to windows 8, and minecraft hits this problem now.
Bad video card drivers!
-----------------------
Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode.
This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.

What's strange is my video cards are doing well. None of them can be updated further more.
I tried deleting the .minecraft folder and letting it reinstall, but that did not solve anything, I tried to set minecraft for windows 7 and vista compatibility mode, but then minecraft doesn't even start up at all.
I got a bunch of strange txt documents generated on my desktop where minecraft was by trying to run compatability.
