So, I have been trying for a couple of days now to get Mcpatcher to work with me. I ended up deleting everything in the .minecraft folder (creating backups of the .jar and saves) and re-installing it completely. The reason? My .jar will not update...
What I mean by this is that when I use the force update, it does it, but then when I log in, it has to re-download everything again to make it current. I have never had this problem until recently and the cause is unknown. I have a unique .jar file in the backups in a separate folder but when I go to my current .minecraft roaming folder, there is nothing but Minecraft.jar and that is it. My old .jar file looked something like this: minecraft.jar134087324 or something and I had no problems at all with the update system. When I would force update, it would update if need be and if nothing was updated then it would not have to download anything and I could jump right in game.
I need help with this because mcpatcher requires a source whatever and when I would try it before, it would not work. (you know, you choose the source whatever *i'm tired* and then you press patch and the mcpatcher would patch and then get started). This would not work for me. I did everything correctly including moving the original .jar to another folder elsewhere and making sure etc...
It just would not work. When I would get all the info correct, I would press the patch button and it would say I still need a source whatever... When I would press the patch and run button, it would run minecraft.exe and that is all it would do...
I'm at wits end here. I need an answer as to why my .jar file is not unique anymore and why I have to download the patches every single time I play and it won't save properly (I checked the destination folder and it seems to check out). Furthermore, I need an answer as to why mcpatcher won't accept the source whatever no matter how many times I do it (I even did it with the old backup .jar file).
so then how do I install lb photo realism with optifine??? I can't find any video on it..
and unfortunately, even after I installed optifine, if I launch minecraft with optifine, it says in the bottom corner of the screen that it is 1.3.2 (current) but I still don't have the unique .jar file like I had before. It is still just minecraft.jar . Before, when minecraft would update, it would create a jar file like this: minecraft.jar13058347 (or what have you). what is up with this? and how do I install lb photo realism with optifine instead of mcpatcher?
is there something I am supposed to do when I FIRST get minecraft? like change a file or something?
