What do you mean?
Torches are supposed to never die, they burn forever. Do you mean it turns off?

How does it go off in the first place? Do they turn off as soon as you place them?

I have the same problem with minecraft 1.3.2 its the red stone toruchs if you place them with a wire comming off the front looping around to the back it burns them out. I'm still trying to figure out a way around it for now i just use red stone relays.

Ahh, i know what you mean.
Torches are supposed to 'burn out' (its turning off) if they are hit with redstone. This allows nice inventions such as piston traps.

Not to hijack a post or anything but after a few cycles of turning on and off the redstone torches burn out. best way to do this is with 2 red stone torches in a loop they will cycle a few times burn out and lose there power and your unable to replace them or do anything with them prem-a-burnt.
