I know the title may sound crazy and at first I thought i was going crazy but every time I've gotten on minecraft recently my computer's temperature has been going up past the TJmax point (which is 70c). I was playing today and my computer got so hot it shut itself off. It was almost 100c. I was like "WTF?".
I cleaned whatever dust was in my computer and turned it back on. I was playing minecraft and next thing I know the coils started to "whine" cause it started getting so hot (hit 93c). I went to the graphics settings and turned Fancy mode to fast mode. Next thing i Know my computer is under 50c. I turned it back on and the temperature went to 80c+ and my coils started whining again. I turned it off and my computer went down to under 50c. I turned fancy mode back on one more time to make sure I wasn't imagining this and my temperature shot up again. I turned fancy mode off and shut off minecraft and now my system is under 50c again.
I just wanted to let ya all know about this.
This computer was not cheap. It has a 1TB harddrive in it running on windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. It has 6gb of ram and 1gb of video ram. I use the computer for music production as well as digital design.
My computer isn't the problem. It has never done this before
if your computer is overheating is not a minecraft problem , minecraft does use temperature because when the video card shows every graphic is producing heat to the card , maybe your computer is with dust or the thermal paste is damage?
you might need to check both of them or replace them.
but i can be sure that minecraft don't cause that type of damage to computers
Maybe your fans are dying? Thats the only thing I can think of... maybe update your graphics card drivers.
The computer was built for gaming. It never goes above 65-70c. The only time it has ever gone above 70c is when I was livestreaming with Fl studio open with tons of VSTs and effects running at the sametime.

you can try benchmarking and see what temperature the computer reaches in 10 minutes if it goes to high temp then the problem is not minecraft but if the computer goes to high temp then is the computer probably fans ,thermal paste , broken card , lot of enviorment heat

the program do a stress test to the GPU and CPU , telling you what is your high temperature at 10 minutes of running it at high resolution with extreme graphics. if your computer can handle that stress test it should not get a high temperature but if your computer can't handle it it will go high temperature and shutdown automatic, the program make the feature enabled automaticly.

Try taking your computer to technical support and seeing what they can do, if they cant, you can buy fans that go under your computer.

I've had it for over 2 years now i believe. The computer is an AMD Phenom x4 955 running at 3.2 Ghz
