Okay, I've been playing around in survival mode for a couple weeks now. I've learned so much from it, and built some pretty cool stuff. Now, I'm ready to try out survival mode. Problem? Digging into the blocks is interupted with the menu popping up. It didn't do that the first three blocks I destroyed, so did I press something to activate that? It's annoying. Google - no help.

Can you be a bit more descriptive? I'm not sure what you mean. Is the pause menu coming up (with the "Return to game" "save and quit", etc buttons)? Is it your inventory? Are you playing with a keyboard or are you using a controller/key-binding program like I do?
It allows you to use buttons/keys to act as other keys. For example, I use a PS2 controller, and have the L2 and R2 buttons act as the left and right mouse buttons.
I'm not sure what could be causing this honestly. Do you have a wireless keyboard? Maybe that might be why.
Are you playing the Classic edition of Minecraft? If so, that can be fixed by downgrading your Java to version 6.
BUT. If you're planning to purchase the full game, don't do anything. There is no such issue in the latest version of premium Minecraft. Plus, the full game includes both Survival and Creative modes.

No. There isn't much more detail I can give you. When I try to dig now, I see the cracks getting bigger for about one second, then the pause menu pops up. Other people have brought this up, but for some reason the internet hasn't helped me.

No, I have the full version. I've been playing in creative mode for awhile now, where I only have to tap a block to destroy it. That's why I'm bringing this up. I've just started survival, and now that I need it, it isn't working.
Do you have any other programs running in the background? I know from experience that sometimes I'll have something running in the background, it'll cause lag, and the pause menu will pop up. Either it's lag, or another program might be attempting to steal the view (force itself to be the active window).
Check to see if you have anything running, and close out anything you don't need on.
Downgrade Java? I doubt that would help. It sounds like a bug or something. Or a stupid shortcut I accidentally enabled... Is there another forum you think might be of more help?
No, the controls are fine. I did change them recently (I'm left-handed), but I'm pressing all the correct buttons. I just found out what's going on, I think. If you press gently on the left mouse button, you dig into a block; if you click the button, then it opens the pause menu. That... I don't see how it can be useful. Thanks for trying to help, anyway. Still appreciated.
